Romanian here who stays in Bucharest: JUST FUCKING DON"T better pick Peterburg, or Brasov or Budapest. STAY OUT OF BUChAREST FOR YOUR OWN GOOD. Also, food tastes like shit. If overpriced beer is what would you want, there is a place in Old Town called Carul Cu Bere, I believe near Universitate (University) metro stations

Since you've already fix the trip, well yeah, Bucharest is not the best touristic city, but you can still have a good time if you're not alone. If you don't have much time, just stick with the Old Town (all kind of pubs and clubs concentrated in one place; if you don't like one, move to the next one). The craft beer is not really a thing in Romania, but you can try Zăganu (beer). There is also this place, called Beraria H, which is a big ass beerhouse. Unfortunately, it's more like a restaurant than a beerhouse, but it's biiig. Avoid taxi, Uber is way cheaper most of the time.

Have fun there! Hit the high end clubs, and bars (forget the beers, go for the girls) and don't take taxis form the street, use Uber. Btw, driving under the influence is not tolerated, in fact it is completely forbidden to drink and drive.

Bucharest is the worst city I have ever been to. Better visit a nice romanian city like Hermannstadt (Sibiu), Schässburg (Sighisoara) or Kronstadt (Brasov).

Went to Bucharest last year and I visited Caru' cu bere. Great restoran, great bear, bean in bread and ofcourse pork shank.
